Case Study

How Kenyan County Governments Brought EIDU Into Their Pre-Primary Classrooms

For more than three years, county governments across Kenya have elevated education for pre-primary learners in partnership with EIDU. It all began when one county government approached EIDU. After seeing our impact in low-cost private schools, and how parents moved children to these schools to work with EIDU, the government requested that we integrate our platform in their public schools.

EIDU’s impact on learning outcomes in this county led even more governments to partner with us. Today, we partner with 32 county governments across Kenya, supporting them as they improve education for around 784,000 children and their teachers.

Partnered with county governments, we aspire to reach over 1 million learners across Kenya by 2026. Together, we will prove that sustainable, high-impact early education is possible on a national scale.

Rapid Expansion For Worldwide Impact

Together with governments and the global education community, we can pave the way for large-scale and sustainable educational transformation. Eradicating global learning poverty – the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 – is no mean feat, but we’re committing to it. The rapid and lasting implementation of our platform by Kenyan governments demonstrates our readiness for expansion, and nine state governments in Nigeria are now following.

An Iterative Approach For Continuously Increasing Impact

Our mission at EIDU is to empower governments to deliver foundational literacy and numeracy to every child, globally.  To achieve this ambitious goal, we constantly refine our approach – enhancing effectiveness and keeping our solution at the forefront of educational impact. Our digital platform enables us to do this.

Through the platform, we monitor student learning outcomes via frequent, embedded assessments, aligned with internationally recognised standards like EGMA, EGRA, and MELQO. These assessments gather anonymised, real-time data on millions of student interactions, creating a comprehensive and constantly updating view of each learner’s progress across both academic and social-emotional skills. The depth and breadth of this data allows us to understand and respond to student needs at an unparalleled scale and speed.

Our data-driven approach also includes rapid A/B testing on any platform content – from student exercises to teacher and training materials. This agile build-measure-learn cycle enables us to adapt immediately, keeping costs low and maximising impact with each iteration. Our platform essentially acts as an “inbuilt, rapid RCT,” supporting effective, real-time improvements that sustain meaningful learning progress for millions of children.
